Featured Clinician: Abe Cotton
Varian Arabians welcomes multi-National and Regional Champion winning trainer Abe Cotton, of Cotton Performance Horses in Manchester, Michigan, as our featured Clinician at the 2018 Varian Way Weekend.
Abe grew up in Michigan on his family's Quarter Horse farm. Usually having about 100 head, he was always around horses and started learning riding and training techniques from his aunt at an early age. He met his wife, Nicole, in college. As her family breeds Hunter Pleasure type arabians, she was abe to get him into the the Arabian business. This also includes training Hunter Pleasure horses too.
"I do love the touch it takes to finish a bridle horse" says Abe, "but I do get a lot of pride and satisfaction in taking a young horse from scratch. It's very rewarding".
His success in the open Arabian and Half-Arabian Western Pleasure division transcends easily to a very successful amateur riding program garnering many National wins too. "We are very good a matching amateur riders with the right horse." says Abe.
Abe won the 2017 Canadian National Champion Half-Arabian Western Pleasure Junior Horse on CPH Rockstarr. This matchup also won 2016 U.S. National Champion AWPA Half-Arabian Western Pleasure Junior Horse.
