Sheila Varian Special Tribute at the Cow Palace

You’re invited! Join us in a special box of seats just for friends & family of Sheila Varian on Friday evening, October 14th as the world famous Cow Palace pays a special tribute to Sheila Varian during the All Women’s Rodeo Night.
In 1961, Sheila made history at age 22 as the first woman to “win the World” in the All-Around Stock Horse Competition at the Cow Palace, besting the finest cowboys of the day. A PE school teacher at the time, Sheila did this as an amateur aboard her own trained Arabian mare, the one and only Ronteza.
We are grateful to Nan & Dick Walden of Rancho Sonada Arabians for bringing five of their Varian-line horses to the Cow Palace to demonstrate the athleticism and versatility of Sheila’s breeding. Each are multi-national and/or Scottsdale champions.
