Qualities:
Maclintock V was started by me as a three year old in 1996. He was very talented, under saddle and certainly was beautiful to look at as well. Desperado V was our head stallion and Marigold V was still a young mare putting out exceptional foals every year and so Maclintock V was sold.

Ten Years later there was an opportunity to buy Maclintock V back and so in 2003 back to Varian Arabians Maclintock V came.

With the beauty and substance of Desperado V, and the beauty and substance of Marigold V, Maclintock V is now a very active breeding stallion here at Varian Arabians.

Maclintock V is four generations down in line from Bay Abi to Bay-El-Bey to Huckleberry Bey to Desperado V and four generations down from our original foundation mare, *Bachantka to Baychatka to Moska to Marigold V, Maclintock V's dame.

Performance:
Sold by Varian as a 3-year old, Maclintock V was re-purchased by Varian Arabians in 2003 as a 10 year old stallion.  As a show horse, Maclintock V is a Regional Champion Western Pleasure horse with a number of wins at shows.  Sheila Varian broke Maclintock V as a three year old, he was a natural stopping and lead changing horse following directly in the hoofprints of Desperado V.  He is now a very popular stallion with all breeders thrilled with the foals they are producing.

Sire:
Maclintock V’s sire is Desperado V , who is a fourth generation Varian Stallion, through Huckleberry Bey++, Bay El Bey++, and Bay-Abi++.  In 1998, Desperado V was the leading living sire of Halter and Performance Horses on a number of winners, ranking 2nd in Halter winners and 3rd in Performance winners.  In addition, he has sired more Performance Champions or Reserve Champions than any of the other leading sires at the time.  He was the leading sire in the Cal-Bred Championships, AHRA Stud Books for five consecutive years, Scottsdale’s youngest sire of Halter and Performance Horses, a Sire of Significance, and the youngest sire of Breeders Sweepstakes Top Ten prize money winners.

Dam:
Marigold V, dam of Maclintock V is Varian Arabians’ finest Bay El Bey++ daughter. She has produced 15 foals, 7 have become Champions in Halter, Western Pleasure, Working Cow, Hunter, and reining. Her daughter Morningstarr V produced the mare Delphine, who in 2005 won the prestigious Daughters of the Desert Stake Race.

Maclintock V Testimonials

Hi Sheila,

Just thought I'd share a few photos of our sweet, calm, & gentle, Maclintock V son, MK Zafar. We (FINALLY) had a cool morning and he was feeling perky. ZZ is now 26 months old, 15hh, and just look at that bone!

ZZ ZZ

He's built like a tank yet, he's quick as a cat. I'm having him evaluated at the end of the year in order to explore his prospects as a cutting or reining horse.

Take care,
Kathy Starustka

KreasyHi Shella - I wanted to send you a couple of the latest pictures of my mare Kreasey @ 6 months old. Her registered name is Up N Dunnit and we call her Kreasey. From just a few hours old she was cantering in her stall and had a lot of personality so that's how she got her barn name. She has turned into a beautiful light colored Buckskin, smart with a kind personality. What a great combination of my mare Cremello mare Royal Cremello Chip and Maclintock V. I hope to breed again in 2009.

Thanks Again,
Cynthia Mundell

Tsamurai MacHi Sheila,
Tsamurai Mac, AKA "Sammy", truly is a special horse! I know you probably hear this all the time, but it's true. Sammy is three this year and has started his show career already. He went to his first show in May and placed 1st and 2nd in his two classes. We entered him in the Region III futurity. He went Top 5 in the Open. There were only 5 horses and they award a full Top 5, so big deal, right? But then, I took him in the ATR. I had had two lessons on him before the show and hadn't ridden a hackamore horse for two years. I'm really a Hunter Pleasure rider. Sammy hadn't been shown in the hackamore until his Open class. We went Top 5, too, out of 9 horses! The Amateur futurity is open to 3,4, and 5-year-olds, so we were very proud of him. He really took care of me. He truly was born to be a western horse. And outside of the ring, he is an absolute sweetheart, very quiet and kind. He is all the things the Varian Arabians are known for.

WE LOVE OUR VARIAN HORSES!!!

Truly,

Heather Ishida and folks, Ed and Lillian Hughes.

In 40+ years of horse ownership, I have never had any desire to keep a stallion. Khanaan might be the one that changes my mind.

This colt (x VS Anwara) is impressing me with all his attributes: pretty face, animated neck with good length, good top line, big joints and a motion that lopes then tear off and melts into his stops. A great cross. Again, I thank all of you for the care of and successful breeding of my aged mare.

Sincerely,
Kathie Hill

What a personality she has. Sweet, kind and loving but very smart and more than a little daring! Thanks to everyone at Varian Arabians.

Sincerely,
Sharon Long

Hi Sheila,
We are so proud of our Maclintock colt, MJ Cadillac Mac. He is extremely bold, confident and not to mention handsome. "Mac" is loaded with personality and has taken a real liking to the kids. He is an exciting addition to our barn. Could not be happier!

FoalEast Wind V has a beautiful, balanced length of stride at all three gaits, and is able to come underneath himself easily. He has inherited Maclintock’s great shoulder and hindquarters and overall substance, too. He carries himself with grace as well as power. He’s a once-in-a-lifetime horse.

Dear Sheila,
I love my Maclintock V colts! Both have excellent feet and legs that track straight and true. They have more than ample quarters, short backs, long necks, and beautiful dry heads with big kind eyes. Their temperments are honest, friendly, and sensible; very easy to work with.

MK Zafar

We are so pleased with MK Zafar and look forward to breeding to a Varian stallion in the future. He has a quick mind and I see cutting and/or reining in his future.
