APRIL SPRING FLING WRAP UP
The Varian Arabians Annual Spring Fling was huge. The biggest Spring Fling ever, Saturday and Sunday were filled with the lovely horses consistently offered for purchase by Varian Arabians with 9 horses and 19 breedings sold.
The Varian breeding stallions; *Jullyen El Jamaal, Maclintock V, Bravado Bey V, Hucks Connection V and Bel Aire V, and this years foals show the across the board quality and diversification of the stallions.
A staple that has become a regular by popular request is Dr. Mark Rick’s from Alamo Pintado Clinic Saturday morning talk on subjects related to breeding and horse care. This year Dr. Rick demonstrated and explained the intricacies of the soundness exam when you purchase a horse.
Sheila Varian gave her vision on the broodmare and what she looks for when including a mare into her world famous broodmare band.
Sheila, Mike Ruiz and Jaime Hernandez gave a demonstration on the process of bringing a foal through it’s first and second year of handling into the undersaddle period and how each one is dependent on the handling the horse receives through each stage. Varian is noted for the good nature of their horses, which is bred in genetically. Then with the good constructive handling the horses receive from birth up to their third year, the time to go undersaddle arrives with horses willing and eager to learn.
The vendors invited to participate in the Spring Fling by Varian’s did excellent business with (Arroyo) tack, Jetta Shepard’s jewelry, Alamo Pintado’s health products, Debra Kunic’s beautiful western art, The Strothers photography, Varian Arabian’s own Boutique with all sorts of Varian items available.
As always the food organized by Angela Alvarez was out of this world, the weather held out and all comments were that coming to Varian Arabians is a truly joyful experience. We are now starting to work on our Summer Jubilee August 11,12 and 13th. Information on the Summer Jubilee is up on the web site now.
